During the break, I bought a Macbook and decided to play as many indie dating games as possible. My second-ever dating game was “Our Life: Beginning and Always” by indie developers, GB Patch. Out of all the dating games I've played, this is my favorite one. If we're close, there's a good chance I've talked about this game with you, it's just too good!!!
Walking back home, the new neighbor across the street approaches you and hands you $20 to befriend his son, Cove Holden. Throughout the game, you grow with the boy next door from childhood to adulthood. Gameplay-wise, you go through 4 different steps in your life. Step 1 is childhood, step 2 is adolescence, step 3 is young adult, and step 4 is adulthood. With each step, you can change the MC’s feelings towards Cove and even start customizing him in step 2. This game is very long and slow-paced and it took me a month to finish this masterpiece.
Adding on, the game has so many DLCs, including a wedding one! I bought the wedding DLC and it's so sweet. It actually got me thinking about how I would plan my wedding.
Our life is so adorable it actually had me kicking my feet and giggling. Cove is very down-to-earth and just an amazing character in general. As someone whose favorite trope is childhood friends to lovers/boy next door, it definitely showed a softer, innocent side of love that is made between the MC and Cove.
Overall, this game has a special place in my heart so I'm giving it a 10/10. This game brought me a lot of comfort during summer and I absolutely love how the game is entirely customizable to the player. Not to mention it helped me appreciate life a little more. The next game I plan on reviewing is called Wake Me Up If You Need Me.
